Emily & Jason exchanged vows on a beautiful spring day at the Coast Guard Academy located in New London, Connecticut.
Emily & Jason's love story started back in their junior year of high school when they officially started dating. However, they have known each other since 2nd grade! They both have a love of travel and adventure and of course trying new restaurants. Emily also loves lighthouses, especially the lighthouse in Falmouth, Massachusetts. While visiting her favorite spot overlooking the ocean as the sun set Jason proposed. Nice touch Jason!
Jason is also an officer of the Coast Guard, and Emily is now officially proud to say she is a Coast spouse. ( I believe there is a damaged object off the coast of Connecticut that proves Jason is allowed to steer the ship. I wish I could have stuck around to hear more details of the story! )
They both agreed the Chapel and Officers Club located on the Coast Guard Academy grounds would be an ideal spot to celebrate their union. It had the perfect blend of classic and nautical feel they both wanted.
The girls piled into Emily's moms house prepping for the big day. The mood was calm and light as Emily sat relaxed in the bright sun room off the kitchen wearing her special embroidered robe while makeup was applied by Tara from Ooh La La Makeup Artistry before making her way over to Sarah from B Suite LLC for hair. The rest of the girls also adorned special navy blue robes as they chatted and waited for their turn for hair and make up.
The vibe at the hotel where Jason and crew stayed was a bit different. Jason met me in the hall outside the room wearing his signature ear to ear smile. He warns me that last night was a bit crazy and the guys were busy cleaning up the room. Once inside and a few formal pictures aside the guys did what guys do best, poke fun at each other. I believe Jason even received a wet willy from his co-best man Doug.
The on site chapel featured brilliant lighting from its many large windows that flank the sides of the church. Jason stood in the front of the chapel wearing his dress whites and of course a large smile as Emily made her way down the aisle. She looked stunning in her fitted classic A-line wedding dress, and a cool fascinator in lieu of a traditional veil. Her white hydrangea bouquet with accents of baby breath made by Ladybug designs tied everything together.
They weren't married by just any JP though. Emily's brother Tim, who is also a minister preformed the ceremony making it feel much more special and intimate.
The reception had many touching moments. Jason sat in his chair that read 1st Mate and Emily appropriately sat in her Captain chair. Emily's two sisters and co-MOH's toasted the newlyweds. Emily got a bit choked up as a favorite poem was read aloud. Doug also delivered a classic toast that had a great mix of laughs and sweetness for his best friend and roommate Jason.
It was an honor to shoot a wedding for such a great couple. Steffanie and I wish you guys a lifetime of happiness wherever your adventures take you.
I'll close out this blog before getting to the real reason you are all here (The pictures!) with these closing words from Emily & Jason.
