Rain on your wedding is rough enough, add a canceled honeymoon due to a CAT 4 hurricane on top and its enough to put quite a damper on your spirits. That is unless your idea of fun is driving a racecar, or a normal workout consists of intense sessions of Crossfit, in between your shifts as a registered nurse.
Liz & Ernie aren't your cookie cutter couple. Ernie is soft spoken but totally cool, and Liz, well Liz is the opposite of soft spoken. She is loud, funny, and most of all caring. Watching them interact not only with eachother, but with their entire family you would know that the wedding wasn't just about one day, it was about the uniting of a family.
Liz & Ernie's story started 20 years ago when they met through mutual friends. They continued on with their lives however until they met at the produce isle of WalMart. (Seriously? Is this a Hugh Grant film!?) They planned a date and have been together ever since. Ernie being the romantic that he is planned a surprise proposal at a nice restaurant that overlooked the strip in Las Vegas.
Their big day started off at a hotel down the street from their chosen venue Latitude 41 in Mystic. The girls all piled into a large room, Liz completely unfazed by the blowing rain outside sat relaxed while her hair and makeup finished up. In great Liz fashion though, moments of silence were interrupted by big laughs and the occasional boom of a nose blow! (Liz and I shared the same cold and it was killing her that once makeup was complete she could no longer blow her nose.)
I tried my best to get some quick pics of the super cute flower girl but was met with the "I don't think so" face whenever caught(thankfully my wife had a bit better luck).
Ernie & the boys got ready at the dock outside of Latitude's aboard his parents boat. Even with the steady light rain and strong crosswind there was no complaints from the guys. Its funny how beer can distract you like that!
The ceremony was moved indoors, but was no less beautiful thanks to all the efforts of the Latitude's staff. The florists Lefrancoise, out of Norwich Connecticut did an unbelievable job, some of the best floral arrangements I've ever seen and were complimented by the farm tables and lighting by Neil Roma of Spin Enterprise, located in Bradford RI. The ceremony didn't miss a beat and Liz looked incredible in her vintage lace gown with a dramatic low cut back. After cocktail hour we were ready to party. Ernie's father and best man, tried his best to get through his toast but was choked up with emotion. Liz's sister and maid of honor made a dramatic and funny entrance as she poked a little fun at her sister, and finished off with some really nice words to the newlywed couple.
Food was delicious with catering done by Coastal Gourmet, and the cake which was as equally beautiful as it was tasty was made by The Chocolate Rose, whom also provided the caramel dipped apple's.
The rest of the night was filled with dancing and good time's. We even got a chance to grab some cool looking night pictures that were enhanced by the light rain. Steffanie and I had a great time with this fun couple, rain and all!
Good luck to Ernie & Liz and thank you again for including us!
